Ensure culverts to Rajakaluves are installed properly: BBMP to officials

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The Hebbal flyover was inundated with water on Sunday following heavy rainfall. This stretch, from Hebbal to Yelahanka, is notorious for waterlogging and causing dead-slow traffic movement.

Chief Commissioner of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), Tushar Girinath, inspected the road and directed officials to expedite the installation of a 120 mm pipeline that connects the side drains and the Rajakaluve.

It has been alleged that the side drains in the Hebbal flyover area are blocked due to ongoing metro works. Officials from the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) were instructed to coordinate and resolve the issue.

Heavy waterlogging was also reported on the service road of Bellary Road. It was alleged that the culverts to the Rajakaluve, installed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), were inadequate.

The chairman of the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) was directed to address the matter swiftly. Zonal Commissioners and officials from other civic authorities were present at the meeting.
