Man arrested for cleaning out Rs3.7L from two shops

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Konanakunte police have arrested a person for allegedly targeting and stealing cash and valuables worth more than Rs 3.7 lakh from two shops in the city limits.

The action was taken following a complaint filed by a resident of JP Nagar in Bengaluru. The victim owns two shops in the city, which were robbed by a person in one month. In his complaint to the police, the victim said several pieces of sports equipment including sportswear, shoes, a leather bag, four willow cricket bats, and Rs 80,000 in cash went missing on March 24 from his sports shop near Brigade Millenium junction.

Following the incident, the victim registered a complaint with the jurisdictional police. Similarly, on the night of April 3, he left for home after closing his car accessories shop on Bannerghatta Main Road.

The next morning when he opened the shop, the victim found several vehicle accessories and cash missing from the shop. He again approached the police and alerted them about it.

Following an investigation, the Konanakunte police zeroed upon a man who was in the custody of Basaveshwaranagar police recently. After obtaining his body warrant from the court for nine days, the Konanakunte police nabbed the accused. Sources from the police said that during interrogation, the accused confessed to have been involved in robberies and theft incidents.

Based on information obtained from the accused, the police recovered stolen valuables including a Tata Sumo and cash from a hideout in Jigani. Suspecting a racket, the senior police are currently probing the matter further.
