'Ek Akela' to NDA Sarkar
In 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while taking a dig at the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, said, "Ek Akela Kitno Ko Bhaari" (one person is proving too much for so many).
In 2024, the BJP is considerably short of the majority mark in the Lok Sabha elections and Modi is left with no other means but to form a coalition government and be at the 'mercy' of allies.
As the entire 2024 LS polls was fought with Modi as the face of the NDA, the opposition says the ethical choice left for him is to step down and let the BJP (read NDA) choose a new leader.
However, the NDA on Wednesday 'unanimously elected Prime Minister Narendra Modi' as leader of the coalition. This paves the way for him to stake claim to form the government for the third time.
NDA MPs will meet on June 7 to formally elect Modi as their leader and the alliance leaders will then go to the President to submit their letters of support, HAM (Secular) leader and former Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi said after attending the meeting.
