Protest against alleged NEET irregularities on Tomorrow
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO) disclosed that they would stage a protest at Freedom Park in Bengaluru on Tuesday against alleged irregularities and corruption in the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET), the country-wide exam test through which students seek admission to medical and dental courses.
The NEET exam was conducted on May 4. The students have alleged that results were manipulated because of the declaring of 67 toppers, who all scored a perfect 720 in the exam, an unusual occurrence.
Moreover, six of the toppers attended the test at the same examination centre. Students alleged that the results date for NEET was advanced from June 14 to June 4 to bury the controversy in the Lok Sabha election results coverage.
AIDSO State Secretary Ajay Kamath also demanded a judicial inquiry even as a re-exam was ruled out by National Testing Agency (NTA).
“We demand a judicial enquiry into the entire matter and that all involved persons be punished strictly,” Kamath said.
“A protest demonstration will be held in Freedom Park on 11th June 2024. Many students and parents are expected to participate,” he added.
He alleged that the results had been very fishy. “It is obvious that the score of a good number of students don't tally with the actual score.''
