Just over 6 lakh votes helped BJP win 30 seats!

New Delhi, NT Bureau: A mere 630,187 votes secured as many as 30 seats for the BJP in the just concluded Lok Sabha polls.

Without these crucial victories, the BJP's total seat tally would have dropped to 210 seats, and the NDA's to 264. In contrast, it would have also elevated the opposition INDIA bloc’s count to 262, potentially positioning them to form the government at the Centre.

The BJP clinched eight seats with margins under 10,000 votes and notably, three of these seats are in Uttar Pradesh, where the party had previously won by large margins in 2019.

For instance, in Farrukhabad, the BJP incumbent's margin dwindled to just 2,678 votes. Similarly, in Bansgaon, BJP’s three-term MP Kamlesh Paswan’s lead shrank to 3,150 votes against Congress’ Sadal Prasad.

In Chhattisgarh’s Kanker seat, a BJP stronghold since 1998, the victory margin narrowed to 1,884 votes. In Rajasthan’s Jaipur Rural seat, where the BJP has dominated since 2014, the margin was reduced to 1,615 votes.
