Fight breaks out between inmates of Central Prison

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Chaos erupted inside Parappana Agrahara Central Prison on the outskirts of the city recently when a gang of inmates allegedly started attacking several undertrials of another barrack.

According to sources, the clash occurred around 6:30 pm on June 7 when prison officials were on routine rounds of the barracks. Nine inmates picked up stones and attacked seven undertrials over an argument.

The officials rushed to the spot and used canes to bring the situation under control. Security was intensified in and around the prison as a precautionary measure. The injured inmates were shifted to the prison hospital for treatment, sources said.

A preliminary inquiry revealed that the accused had an old grudge against the seven inmates living in the adjacent barrack.

Chief Superintendent of the prison Mallikarjun filed a complaint with Parappana Agrahara police seeking legal action against the accused for violating prison rules and indiscipline.

Based on the complaint, police have registered a case of assault against the nine accused.
