Medical student found dead, suicide suspected

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In a shocking incident, a first-year medical student studying at Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College and Research Institute and Hospital in the city, was allegedly found hanging in one of the hostel rooms Monday afternoon.

It was learnt that the deceased student, Lokendra Kumar Singh, was a native of Rajasthan. He had attended a practical exam in the morning session.

However when one of his classmates returned from classes in the afternoon, he found the door of the room locked. With the help of an official, the door was forced open and the suicide came to light.

The Commercial Street police visited the spot and have registered a case. The body was sent for a post mortem analysis to ascertain the cause of death. So far it is suspected to be a suicide case.

The police have informed the family of the deceased and have taken up further investigation. More details are yet to emerge as the police have collected Singh's mobile phone and laptop for a probe.
