KSRTC compensates employee families, accident victims

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation recently disbursed compensation to families of its employees and passengers who faced unfortunate circumstances.

Under the ‘Saarige Suraksha Rs. 1 Crore Accident Compensation Insurance Scheme’, the dependents of four deceased employees were provided with Rs. 1 crore each, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 17 employees.

These compensations aim to offer financial stability to families impacted by accidents, whether on duty or off.

Additionally, under the ‘Employees' Family Welfare Compensation Scheme’, the compensation amount for employees who passed away due to illnesses such as heart attack and cancer has been increased from Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh since November 2023.

So far, 16 cases have received this enhanced compensation, with 23 more families benefiting from it. Furthermore, KSRTC has extended its support to the dependents of passengers who lost their lives in accidents involving corporation vehicles.

The compensation under the Accident Relief Fund scheme has been raised from Rs. 3 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh starting from January 2024, reflecting the corporation's commitment to providing substantial financial assistance to affected families.

Transport and Muzrai Minister Ramalinga Reddy emphasised the corporation's dedication to employee and passenger welfare, urging families to utilise the compensation wisely for education and housing needs.

S.R. Srinivas (Vasu), MLA Gubbi and Chairman of KSRTC, highlighted the importance of supporting hardworking staff members.
