Prioritise HDI progress in Kalyana Karnataka, Siddu tells KKRDB
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah suggested that the implementation of complementary projects to improve the Human Development Index of Kalyana Karnataka be prioritised.
He appealed for the progress review meetings of the Kalyan Karnataka Regional Development Board (KKRDB) at his home office Krishna in Bengaluru on Friday.
Kalyana Karnataka refers to the districts in the state that border Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. They include the likes of Bidar, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Ballari and Koppal.
“Emphasis should be laid on those areas in which we are lagging. Emphasis should also be placed on infrastructure development, at hostels, Anganwadis and residential schools,” Siddaramaiah said.
“Available grants should be spent on priority areas. Roads, drinking water, irrigation and other infrastructure should also be prioritised. It is our responsibility to give the necessary approvals from the Finance department. The incharge minister of the district should review the progress once a month and send the report to the board. District incharge secretaries should also conduct progress reviews. Anganwadis, hostels, schools and hospitals should be visited and inspected,” he added.
