Employment opportunities increase with guarantee schemes, says panel vice chairman Mehroz Khan
Mysuru, NT Bureau: Vice chairman of the Karnataka Guarantees panel Mehroz Khan on Wednesday said that collection of taxes increases, and so do employment generation and promotion of tourism with the implementation of all five guarantees in the state.
Speaking to media persons after being felicitated at the District Congress Office here, he said that the state has implemented these schemes with the main intention for economic empowerment of poor people, women and underprivileged classes as they were badly affected by the misrule of the previous BJP government in the state.
The economic state was in disarray during the previous BJP government, he accused. He said that the state government has launched this scheme aimed at ensuring the universal basic income for families living below the poverty line, along the lines of European governments.
“Even Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi dreamt of empowering the poor and vulnerable sections of the society, and arranging food for those hungry. The Constitution of India has also assured equal rights and opportunities for all citizens of the country,” he said.
“The state government has walked the talk by successfully implementing all five guarantee schemes without affecting the implementation of other development works in the state since the day of its formation. These schemes are the world's best social security schemes. Over 4.5 crore families benefit from these schemes,” he added.
District Congress President B J Vijaykumar, City President R Murthy, Secretary R Girish, Bhaskargowda and others were present on the occasion.
