Police custody of Darshan in murder case extended

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: A Bengaluru court on Thursday extended the police custody of four accused, including actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, in the Renukaswamy murder case, for the third time, while prime accused Pavitra Gowda and other accused were remanded to 14 days' judicial custody.

The police produced Darshan and the other accused before an ACMM court in Bengaluru after police custody ended on Thursday.

As part of the investigation, the police collected evidence from the scenes of crime over the course of investigation. The special public prosecutor (SPP) argued that Darshan, Vinay, Pradosh, Nagaraj, Lakshman and Dhanraj should be subjected to further investigation, although most of the investigation has been concluded.

The court again handed over Darshan and the other accused to police custody after accepting the argument. Actor Darshan was arrested by the Bengaluru police on June 11 in connection with the murder case.

The mutilated body of Renukaswamy, 33, a pharmacy employee in Chitradurga, was recovered from a storm water drain near Summanahalli bridge in the city.
