BBMP to launch yet another app to identify and repair potholes

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In its bid to solve the long-standing headache of road potholes, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has announced it will launch a new app – Pothole Assistance Citizen Engagement, which abbreviates to PACE, soon.

The formation of craterlike potholes in roads of the city has been a long standing issue for the BBMP, as citizens have a poor experience in mobility, especially during monsoon rains.

As per reports, the app will help citizens identify potholes on the roads, and the app will redirect the picture of the said pothole to the contractor, who had laid the said road.

Citizens can track their grievance, and will get a response of resolution from the contractor. It is also reported that the app will take it to the higher authority, if the contractor fails to address the same. The contractor could also land in trouble, if the said issue is not solved on time.

However, a similar app ‘Fix my Street’ in 2017 was launched, albeit with a lot of glitches and technical difficulties. Initially it was open only to Palike officials and the traffic police.

Last year, it was open to the public. It is alleged that the app had poor interface and difficulties in reporting potholes on the road.
