Bengaluru's startup scene similar to San Francisco’s, says entrepreneur Hardeep Gambhir
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: An Indian-origin entrepreneur has drawn comparisons between Bengaluru and San Francisco, underscoring Bengaluru's rise as a dynamic startup hub akin to the renowned Silicon Valley.
Hardeep Gambhir, founder of The Residency, returned to India after seven years in the San Francisco Bay Area, globally recognised for its technological innovation, startups, venture capital and educational opportunities.
Gambhir took to social media to share insights into Bengaluru's startup scene, noting its similarities to that of San Francisco’s.
"When I left India seven years ago, I never thought I'd return," he wrote on X.
"But after spending years in the Bay Area, I moved to Bengaluru in May to launch The Residency. The experience here has been akin to San Francisco," he added.
He began by praising his seamless arrival experience at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, highlighting the efficient Uber Zone system. Unlike typical wait times elsewhere, Gambhir noted passengers can swiftly board an Uber by entering a PIN and selecting the first available car.
Despite expecting to primarily use Hindi, Gambhir found that English served as the dominant language in most interactions, including those with autorickshaw drivers.
Comparing neighbourhoods, Gambhir likened the HSR Layout in Bengaluru to Hayes Valley in San Francisco, noting the frequent encounters with startup enthusiasts in popular areas.
