Three murders rock city, love affair behind one?

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Three murders including one over a love affair rocked the city on Monday. Among these, an incident where a minor was killed over a love affair was reported at Gangamma Gudi Police Station limits in Bengaluru.

Identified as Manjunath, 17, the youth was allegedly beaten to death by a gang of miscreants using an iron rod during a fight near Wimac Circle, sources said.

The youth is said to be a resident of Abbigere in Bengaluru. The police told News Trail that Manjunath used to stay with his uncle and aunt in Abbigere.

He had completed SSLC and used to help his uncle, a carpenter, at his work. According to the jurisdictional police, Manjunath returned home in a drunken state on Saturday night after which he was scolded by his uncle.

Around 2 am, Manjunath stepped out of the house and went missing. When they could not find him, his uncle and aunt filed a missing report at the police station.

On Sunday around 11 am, a passer-by alerted the police regarding the body of a youth lying near a garbage dump a few meters away from Wimac Circle.

The police who inspected the body, identified him as Manjunath. The cops suspected he was murdered after they found injury marks on his head and nail marks all over his body.

Preliminary inquiries by the police have hinted that Manjunath was in love with a girl. However, an investigation is still underway. The police have sent the body for a post-mortem analysis to MS Ramaiah hospital and a case has been registered.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Bengaluru North, Saidulu Adavath, said, "The investigation is on and we will take further action based on the autopsy report. Currently there are different versions about the murder case. The exact reason can be ascertained only after the completion of the probe," he said.

Man's head crushed with a stone

In a separate incident, a construction worker was found brutally murdered near a park in Malleswaram Police Station limits. The incident took place around 4:30 pm on Sunday near a park a few meters away from KC General Hospital.

The deceased was identified as Pannir Selvam, 38, a resident of Vallipuram, who was sitting with his friends at a park when the accused, Prem, along with his friends, approached him. As per sources, Prem and Selvam were neighbours.

An initial probe revealed that Selvam had an argument with Prem's mother over an issue earlier in the day following which Prem confronted him at the park. The two started trading blows which resulted in Selvam falling down.

Prem seized the opportunity and allegedly dropped a heavy stone on Selvam's head killing him. Following this, Prem and his friends fled the spot. The jurisdictional police rushed to the spot and after an investigation, apprehended two accused in the case.

The body was sent to Victoria Hospital and the case is being probed.

Father stabs son to death

A 37-year-old painter was stabbed to death by his father over a trivial issue in Jnanabharathi Police Station limits on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Anand, a resident of Dodda Gollarahatti in Bengaluru. It was learnt that Anand was the adopted son of the accused, Puttaswamy. A preliminary investigation revealed that Puttaswamy was addicted to alcohol and would often pick up a fight with his son after returning home in a drunken state.

Around 10:20 pm, the father-son engaged in another heated argument over a financial matter which turned violent when Puttaswamy took a knife from the kitchen and allegedly stabbed Anand in his stomach.

As Anand collapsed on the floor, neighbours who heard the noise, rushed to his help and shifted him to a hospital where Anand succumbed to injuries without responding to treatment.
