Armed men rob jewellery store

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Two unidentified armed men barged into a jewellery store and allegedly escaped with around 750 grams of valuables, the police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place at a jewellery store on Lakshmipura Main Road in Madanayakanahalli Police Station limits on Tuesday night. The incident has been captured by a CCTV camera installed inside the store, which the jurisdictional police have verified.

The video clip reveals one of the accused wearing a helmet while another has his face covered with a cloth, making identifying them tricky. The duo is seen barging into the shop around 9:15 pm, the police said.

The accused pointed a gun at the owner Rahul and his staff, and force them to get inside a room in the shop. The duo emptied some jewellery trays into a bag and left on a motorcycle with a third associate who was waiting for them outside.

Though the shop owner Rahul rushed out after them and raised an alarm, the accused managed to escape. Superintendent of Police, Bengaluru Rural, Mallikarjuna Baladandi visited the store on Wednesday morning and inspected the spot.

It is suspected that the accused carried out a recce for a few days before executing the heist. A special team has been formed to identify and nab the two.

"The robbery took place within 30 seconds," the cops who examined the CCTV footage from in and around the area, told News Trail.
