Couple commits suicide after son's wife refuses to reconcile
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: A middle-aged couple were found hanging inside their home after their daughterin-law decided to separate from her husband and went away to her parent's house in the city. The incident took place in Byappanahalli Police Station limits on Monday evening.
The deceased were identified as Chandrashekhar, 56, and his wife Sharada, 46, residents of Old Byappanahalli in Bengaluru.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the couple were depressed after their daughter-in-law, who was allegedly disappointed over a trivial row with her husband and in-laws, went away to her parent's house. It was learnt that the woman had been suggesting her husband, Surya Prashant, to move away to a separate house.
It is alleged that despite several attempts made by the parents, the woman refused to reconcile with her husband and decided to remain with her parents.
It is said that Prashant's parents were depressed over the matter. The police said that on Monday evening, Chandrashekhar and Sharada sent their younger son, Shreyas, to a grocery store before hanging themselves to a ceiling fan using a rope.
The matter came to light when the boy returned from the store and alerted the neighbours. The police have taken up a case in this regard and the matter is currently under investigation.
