Only 80,000 defaulters paid up via OTS: BBMP chief
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: As the deadline to pay property tax via One - Time Settlement (OTS) is bracing closer, Chief Commissioner of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Tushar Giri Nath urged citizens to make most use of it to settle arrears irrespective of how long it was kept.
“Out of 4 lakh defaulters identified, only 80,000 of them have settled it via OTS,” he said, urging 3.2 lakh defaulters to pay up without having to pay interest.
The One Time Settlement system introduced recently allows defaulters to pay up their taxes accruing for decades, without interest.
A penalty concession of 50 per cent is also included, and will not be extended past July 31. If said defaulters face any confusions, the tollfree helpline ‘1533’ is always available to them for solving their queries, Nath added.
