Cops relieve motorists using dazzling headlights of `77K

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Continuing its crackdown on vehicles flashing dazzling and glaring headlights, the Bengaluru East Traffic Division has booked such 155 cases and collected Rs 77,500 from the offenders.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), East, Traffic, Kuldeep Kumar Jain said the police checked 360 vehicles during the special operations and booked a number of cases against the violators.

"Further, the traffic police personnel also carried out several awareness campaigns urging the public to follow road safety and traffic rules," the DCP said.

This comes a day after the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Traffic and Road Safety Alok Kumar announced that over 5,000 cases were registered by the police across the state against motorists using dazzling high-beam headlights.

In yet another operation, the traffic police in east division filed cases against several vendors for encroaching footpaths despite being warned against it and booked 225 cases in connection to the violations and 165 cases under Karnataka Police Act.
