Rains back; roads to airport have traffic at standstill

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Roads in the city got severely inundated due to heavy rainfall here on Monday. Fortunately, the downpour was not accompanied by gusty winds strong enough to uproot trees.

As of 8.30 pm, the control rooms of the BBMP received only one complaint, in the Mahadevapura zone. A complaint of waterlogging on Tubarahalli Road, connecting Varthur Road and HAL Old Airport Road was reported, which was attended to by the officials.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) reported waterlogging on several arterial and sub-arterial roads. Joint Commissioner of Traffic Police MN Anucheth posted on X that waterlogging at the Kempegowda International Airport flyover in Kodigehalli.

Traffic heading to the city was affected, and diversions were made near the railway bridge with vehicles diverting to the service road.

Road users had to endure hardship due to slowmoving traffic because of waterlogging on the following roads: Devinagar Underpass towards Bhoopasandra, Hebbal Flyover, the flyover ramp towards the airport, Hennuru-Bagaluru Railway Underpass, CBI Flyover, Veeranapalya Flyover towards Hebbal, Kempapura Junction, Sanjayanagar Cross at Bellary Road, Queens Road, Windsor Manor Bridge, Binny Mill Junction towards Hunsmara, and the KR Market Flyover towards SJP Road.
