Shivakumar flayed for attending Ambani wedding

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has been on the receiving end of criticism and ridicule for attending the wedding of Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant in Mumbai on Friday.

The reason being that Congress bigwig and Leader of the Opposition (LOP) in the Lok Sabha has been criticizing the extravagance of the Ambani family. Gandhi had pointed out that millions had been spent on the wedding and pre-wedding events of the couple.

Wary of this, Shivakumar posted a picture from the wedding on social media site X (previously Twitter). However, he refrained from specifying where he was, choosing to vaguely call it a “social gathering”.

The Deputy CM had met former UK CM Tony Blair and his wife on the occasion.

“It was pleasant meeting former Prime Minister of UK Mr Tony Blair and his wife Mrs Cherie Blair, at a social gathering in Mumbai,” Shivakumar posted. This caused social media users to mock him, pointing out that his party colleague Gandhi had been criticizing the wedding in question.
