MUDA plot de-notified under dead person’s name, claims HDK

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Union Minister for Heavy Industries, Steel and Public Enterprises HD Kumaraswamy alleged that the land claimed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife BM Parvati didn’t belong to her, adding that it was acquired by Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) much prior to that.

Kumaraswamy renewed the claim that the relevant three acres and 16 guntas of agricultural land in Kesare village on the outskirts of Mysuru city was notified by MUDA in 1992. Notification refers to the official intent of the government to acquire land.

The owner of the land one Ninga alias Javara was compensated by MUDA with upwards of Rs 3 lakh in 1997 after the final notification, he said. He also claimed that the land was de-notified in 1998 when Ninga was dead, which was an illegality.

This allegation has been rebuffed by the CM's camp in the past. De-notification refers to the official cancellation of the government’s intention to acquire the land. Kumaraswamy made the remarks at the JD(S) office in Bengaluru on Saturday.

It is to be noted that the Siddarmaiah’s brother-inlaw BM Mallikarjunaswamy bought the land from one Devaraju in August 2004. He “gifted” the land to his sister and the CM’s wife BM Parvati in 2010.

Siddaramaiah’s camp says the site was acquired by MUDA for layouts in 2014. For this, Parvati was compensated in 2021 with 14 sites in a locality where the guidance value is much higher, according to the Opposition, which says this caused massive losses to MUDA.

“The first preliminary notification happened in 1992. Hereby MUDA acquired it for layout. The final notification happened in 1997. About Rs 3,24,000 was transferred to the former landowner Ninga alias Javara’s account. For this three acres, 16 guntas of land, money has been paid, Mr Chief Minister. In 1998, de-notification happened. During this time, you were the honourable Deputy Chief Minister. Please tell the people when this Ninga alias Javara died. When did it come into the possession of Devaraju? Is it possible to de-notify the land in the name of a deceased person?” Kumaraswamy asked.
