Deal with street hawkers humanely, CM tells DC
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday made a phone call to HubballiDharwad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Divya Prabhu GRJ, asking her to ensure that authorities don’t harass street vendors.
The phone call was a consequence of a written complaint by one Ismail from the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Street Vendors Committee (KPCSVC). Ismail told the CM that authorities had been doling out “unnecessary” harassment to street vendors.
He argued that the street hawkers were merely trying to make a living and weren’t the nuisance they are made out to be.
Upon reading the letter and speaking with the complainant, an upset Siddaramaiah called the HubballiDharwad Deputy Commissioner (DC) Divya Prabhu GRJ, demanding her and the authorities under her treat the street vendors “humanely”.
