Double-deck flyover to be open on 'trial basis'
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The double decker flyover connecting Ragigudda Temple junction and Central Silk Board will finally be thrown open on a 'trial basis' at 3 pm on Wednesday, in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Development Minister DK Shivakumar and state transport minister and BTM Layout MLA Ramalinga Reddy.
The 3.3 kilometre stretch, constructed by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), aims to decongest traffic at Silk Board, which is infamous for its traffic snarls.
Despite completion of work by June, the flyover was not open to the public with busy schedules of ministers cited as the reason.
The flyover, which features five ramps, connects Electronic City and Hosur via Ramp A and HSR layout via Ramp C. Ramp B, which is at the ground level at BTM Layout, connects Ramp A with the Electronic City route.
The road is in the lower deck of the flyover, while the Yellow Line track is on the upper deck. The ramps feature four continous solid slabs each spanning 31 metres, and 15m wide.
