
Swift action leads to arrest in chain snatching case
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In a swift resolution to a recent gold chain snatching incident, Kengeri police arrested a suspect and recovered stolen gold jewellery worth Rs 7 lakh.
The crime took place on June 7, when a resident of DX Max apartment in Kodipalya reported that her gold chain was snatched by an unknown motorcyclist near Global Bakery at Kodipalya Cross while she was dropping her daughter off on her school bus.
Following the complaint, the Kengeri police registered an extortion case and launched an extensive investigation. They scrutinised CCTV footage and gathered vital information from witnesses. On June 11, their efforts paid off when they detained a suspect near Doddabele Metro Station.
Upon questioning, the suspect confessed to the crime. The police seized gold jewellery weighing 104.5 grams and a motorcycle used in the crime. The suspect was taken into police custody for 10 days following his court appearance on June 11 and remanded in judicial custody on June 20.
