
Ex-BBMP contractor held for stealing valuables worth `19L
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: A brazen theft at the BBMP Primary Health Centre, Jayanagar 2nd Block, has come to light with the arrest of a former contract worker.
The incident, reported on July 10 by the medical officer on duty, involves the theft of 62 Lenovo tablets and three batteries, valued at Rs 19 lakh, intended for distribution to Asha workers.
Following the registration of the theft case at Siddapura Police Station, investigators pursued various leads and gathered witness testimonies. Their efforts led to the detention of a former BBMP contract worker, who was spotted attempting to sell one of the stolen tablets and batteries near Khadi Street Hotel, Jayanagar, on July 13. Upon questioning, the suspect confessed to the theft.
On July 14, based on his confession, the police recovered 61 Lenovo tablets and the remaining two batteries from his residence. The suspect was subsequently produced in court and remanded in judicial custody.
This successful operation was conducted by a dedicated team of officers from the Siddapura Police, led by Sub-Inspector Mohan D Patel, and was overseen by South Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Lokesh B Jagalasar, under the leadership of Assistant Commissioner of Police V Narayanaswamy, Jayanagar Subdivision.
