CCB arrests 2 for fabricating documents of stolen cars
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Bengaluru Central Crime Branch has arrested two miscreants allegedly involved in the theft of cars and fraudulent operations in their disposal.
The accused, identified as Syed Riaz and Austin Cardos, fabricated no objection certificates of various Transport departments and banks to sell stolen cars originating from other states.
According to police sources, the accused masterminded a scheme where they falsified registration numbers and documents of vehicles stolen outside Karnataka, subsequently selling them to unsuspecting buyers.
Additionally, they engaged in fraudulent practices of mortgaging cars from individuals unable to repay bank loans, fabricating NOCs indicating clearance of the loan before reselling the vehicles.
Police investigations revealed that the accused promoted their illicit activities through social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, showcasing videos of cars to attract potential buyers. It is estimated that they have sold over 40 cars through they deceitful says.
Authorities have seized 17 vehicles worth around 2.5 crore, including models such as Innova, Fortuner, Mahindra Jeep and Hyundai Creta from the arrested two.
