AIDSO condemns state govt's move to cut scholarships for Scheduled Caste students
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) has strongly condemned the state government's recent decision to cut scholarships for Scheduled Caste students.
In a press statement, AIDSO State Secretary Ajay Kamath accused the government of betraying poor students by imposing a Rs 6 lakh income limit for scholarship eligibility. Kamath highlighted that this new condition excludes many deserving students who passed their SSLC exams with first-class marks on their first attempt.
He criticised the government for using funds meant for SC/ST students to support other schemes while simultaneously reducing scholarship support.
“This move reflects the state government's disregard for the needs of poor and meritorious students,” Kamath stated. AIDSO is demanding the immediate reinstatement of the scholarship program, emphasising that the current aid is already minimal and crucial for supporting the education of underprivileged students.
