Police crack down on day & night robberies: 6 arrested
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In a significant breakthrough, Peenya Police have arrested six individuals in connection with a series of day and night robberies, recovering gold jewelry worth Rs 2.27 lakh weighing 452 grams.
The complainant, a resident of Grilahakshmi Layout, had locked his house on the night of June 10, 2014, and traveled to his daughter's house in America. Two days later, he was alerted by his brother in Bengaluru about a malfunctioning CCTV camera at his house.
Upon inspection, the brother discovered that the back door lock had been broken and the gold ornaments were missing. A formal police complaint was then filed. The police swiftly initiated an investigation, inspecting the crime scene and gathered crucial information about the suspects.
On July 4, 2014, three suspects were apprehended at HMT Layout under Peenya Police Station. During interrogation, these individuals confessed to their involvement in three related cases and revealed that the stolen jewelry had been disposed of in West Bengal.
The investigation led to the capture of another suspect who had fled to Bengal. In a coordinated effort, police seized 452 grams of gold from two jewelry shops in Dubulma and took the shop owners into custody as well.
This operation uncovered three day and night theft cases under Peenya Police Station limits. The arrested individuals had a history of similar offenses.
