Two held for theft of gas cylinders, vehicle batteries

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Vidyaranyapura Police have successfully arrested two individuals involved in the theft of gas cylinders, vehicle batteries, and shoes, seizing goods worth Rs 110.72 lakhs from them.

On July 15, a complaint was filed at Vidyaranyapura Police Station regarding the theft of two gas cylinders and four pairs of valuable shoes, which were kept near the gate of a house in BEL Layout. Following the registration of the case, the police launched an intensive investigation.

On July 17, acting on information from local sources, the police apprehended two suspects along with an autorickshaw in 5th Block of BEL Layout.

Upon questioning, the suspects confessed to the theft. The investigation led to the recovery of stolen items from the suspects' residence on July 18, 2024.

The seized goods included 75 pairs of valuable shoes, two gas cylinders, one electric vehicle battery, and one passenger autorickshaw for committing the crime, with the total value estimated at Rs 10.72 lakhs.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police, North East Division, Mr. Sachith VJ. A Vidyaranyapura Police team, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Yelahanka Sub Division, along with the police inspector and staff, were instrumental in the successful resolution of this case. The two accused were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody
