Cops cracks whip on pubs, restaurants open beyond 1am deadline
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Bengaluru Central Division Police has turned the heat on pubs and restaurants allowing customers to stay beyond the stipulated time, especially during weekends.
Police conducted a special operation under the leadership of DCP HT Shekhar and closed all pubs and restaurants engaged in business beyond the time limit (1 am) at various places including MG Road, Brigade Road and Church Street.
In the past, the Cubbon Park police registered cases against over 15 such pubs and restaurants, including a restaurant co-owned by Virat Kohli, for operating beyond the deadline.
Against this backdrop, the police have launched operations late at night and it has been seen that loud music and overnight parties are being allowed in many places.
“We are conducting a special operation and registering cases against pubs, bars and restaurants engaged in trading beyond the deadline. The operation will continue. Officers patrolling during nights have been instructed to pay more attention to this. Strict action will be taken if any commercial establishment is kept open beyond the time fixed by the government,” DCP HT Sekhar said.
