BMRCL shatters daily ridership record, yet again

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In record-breaking style, a maximum of 8.08 lakh metro passengers in a single day (19th June) and a gross revenue of Rs. 58.23 crore for June was encashed by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).

These details were revealed in its July edition of ‘Namma Metro News.’ The BMRCL has seen an overwhelming response, especially after connecting two parts of the Purple Line from Whitefield to Challaghata.

The daily average ridership of June is now better than previous records of May (7.18 lakh), February (7.05 lakh). With re gards to project completion, the extension of the green line to Madawara on Tumakuru road is 99.9 per cent complete. Reports suggest the line will be open by this month.

With the pink line connecting Kalena Agrahara in the South and Nagawara in the north, the underground section from Dairy circle to Nagawara are at least 80 per cent complete. However, the elevated section from Kalena Agrahara to Tavarekere is only 77.32 per cent complete.

For its upcoming Orange line project, the BMRCL has identified 777 properties’ areas to be acquired, at a space of 1,29,743 square metres. A joint measurement of the required properties is carried out & preliminary notice will be submitted shortly to Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB).
