
Accused who groped woman arrested, 3 cops suspended
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: Konanakunte Police has arrested the accused who allegedly sexually harasses a woman out on her morning walk recently. Suresh (25) is the arrested accused.
Early in the morning on August 2, the accused forcibly hugged and groped the woman of North Indian origin who was going for a walk. The misdeed was caught on CCTV camera.
The woman, who went for a walk with her friends at 5 am every day, was waiting for them when the accused allegedly grabbed her from behind.
He is said to have covered her mouth to prevent her from raising an alarm. When she ran away from him, the man allegedly followed her, only to grope her and rough her up.
After a video of the incident went viral, the police registered a case under BNS Act 74 (criminal assault on woman), 75 (sexual harassment), 78 (stalking), 79 (attempt to outrage the dignity of a woman) and 126 (voluntarily obstructing lawful movement).
On Monday, the accused was traced and arrested. The accused is a cab driver who drops and picks up employees of different companies. Police said he had followed the woman and behaved indecently with her when no one was around.
