Mysuru: Two months have passed since unseasonal, heavy rains caused a series of landslides along Chamundi Hill in Mysuru. While nobody was hurt, Mysuru Police closed off the road with metal barricades, deploying cops to keep commuters off the stretch. However, several weeks have passed with no improvements whatsoever and two-wheeler riders, who have returned to the road, risk their lives as they traverse along the stretch.

The District Administration decided to seek an expert opinion to determine why there are so many landslides on the hill, before they proceed with the repair work. The expert committee has reportedly submitted its findings to the administration which is now awaiting the state government’s approval. Preoccupied with the Belagavi session and the urban local body polls, the report on Chamundi Hill was put aside.

However, instead of intensifying their vigil along the damaged road, the police have withdrawn their men instead, leading to two-wheeler riders using the road with little regard for the dangers involved.
