ATM fraudster arrested after a decade of deceiving people
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In a significant crackdown on ATM fraud, police arrested a man accused of deceiving people at ATM centers for over a decade.
The arrest was made on July 25, following an extensive investigation by Begur police, who successfully apprehended the suspect near Begur Lake. This operation was conducted under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner of Police Sara Fatima and Assistant Commissioner of Police R Manjunath, with Electronic City Police playing a crucial role.
The case goes back to August 31, 2013, when a resident of Bhantihalli, Malur, lodged a complaint at Begur police station. The complainant recounted an incident where he had visited an ATM near HDFC Bank on Begur Main Road to withdraw money.
During the transaction, a man offered assistance and, in a deceptive move, swapped the complainant’s ATM card with another. The suspect then pretended to withdraw money using the complainant’s PIN but returned a different card when the transaction failed.
