Aidso condemns brutal rape, murder of Kolkata doc, demands justice

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: The All India Democratic Students' Organisation (Aidso) has strongly condemned the brutal rape and murder of a post-graduate student at RG Kar Medical College.

The horrific crime has shocked the nation and highlighted the severe shortcomings in the protection and safety of medical professionals across India.

In response, Aidso members in Kolkata have been organising protests at RG Kar Medical College, while condolence meetings were held on Monday at BMCRI, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College, and other institutions in Bengaluru.

Speaking with News Trail, Aidso State President Apoorva said, "This brutal incident of rape and murder of a post-graduate trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College is highly condemnable, it’s a slap on civilized society. Under the pressure of the students' movement, the Principal of RG Kar Medical College resigned. This movement must continue until security is assured for all doctors, especially women doctors, nurses, and health professionals in all workplaces."

She further highlighted that this crime underscores a systemic failure to protect those who dedicate their lives to serving others. It is a stark reminder of the severe risks faced by medical professionals, particularly women, within healthcare environments.
