Man sets 2-wheeler on fire outside Vidhana Soudha

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: In a dramatic incident, a man set his two-wheeler on fire right in front of Vidhana Soudha, allegedly due to police inaction in his hometown.

Prithviraj, a resident of Challakere in Chitradurga district, doused his Honda Activa with petrol and ignited it in protest against the Challakere police, who reportedly refused to register a complaint filed by his mother.

The incident occurred around 3:30 PM on Dr BR Ambedkar Veedhi, just outside the state legislature, causing traffic from K R Circle towards Rajbhavan Road and Shivajinagar to slow down.

Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and extinguished the blaze, but the vehicle was completely destroyed. Eyewitnesses speculated that Prithviraj might be facing financial difficulties related to the vehicle. According to reports, Prithviraj lost his mobile phone during a trip with friends. His mother, unable to reach him, went to the police station to file a missing complaint.

However, the police allegedly refused to take the complaint. When Prithviraj returned home and learned about his mother’s visit to the station, he confronted the police in a second visit, during which he was reportedly assaulted by the officers.

This chain of events led him to set his vehicle on fire. He had also allegedly threatened to attack vital facilities in the city.
