Car owner faces legal trouble after pistol displayed in Insta reel

Bengaluru, NT Bureau: A car owner has got into hot water after a pistol left negligently on the dashboard of his vehicle was featured in a social media reel, causing a stir among local authorities.

BV Sathish Babu, a resident of New Thippasandra, had left his Hyundai Verna at a car accessories shop on JC Road for floor mat and cooling repairs.

The incident unfolded when an employee of the shop, Mohammed Tousif, used the vehicle to make a reel that was later tagged from his Instagram account police car accessories to the X accounts of the City Police and its chief.

The reel, which depicted Tousif holding the pistol in his hand while dancing to a Punjabi song, drew immediate attention and concern. The video was tagged to the city police's X account along with a comment stating that using a gun inside a police car, recording video and uploading is creating terror and fear.

This led to a preliminary inquiry by the Silver Jubilee Park police. In response to the incident, the Park police filed a case against BV Sathish Babu, shop owner Mohammed Dastigar and employee Mohammed Tousif.

Sathish Babu has sought anticipatory bail from a city court, citing the serious nature of the allegations against him. The public prosecutor has argued that there is substantial evidence against Babu, highlighting the gravity of the situation.
