Suspected rape of a young woman, case filed
Bengaluru, NT Bureau: An incident was reported here of a young woman allegedly being sexually assaulted. The incident took place in the HSR Layout Police Station limits late on Saturday and there is a suspicion of rape.
The young woman, who is pursuing her final-year degree in a private college in Anekal, had come to a pub in Koramangala with her friends. On her way back, a friend's car met with an accident near Empire Junction when the young lady was driving herself.
When she got into an argument with an auto driver, the young woman called the police helpline. But by the time the police reached the spot, the woman had walked away from the place “out of fear”.
After going some distance, she asked a twowheeler rider for a lift. He took her to a deserted area near Bommanahalli and tried to rape her. The woman is said to have pressed the SOS button on her mobile phone and an alert call reached her father and friends. By the time her friends reached the spot, the accused had fled.
The woman has admitted to a hospital with the help of her friends in a semi-conscious state. The doctors of the hospital informed the police that the woman was sexually assaulted.
Additional Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru East Division, Raman Gupta said that a case of rape has been registered at the HSR Layout Police Station in connection with the incident.
