Mysuru DC: Make DPR to convert old DC office into museum
Mysuru, NT Bureau: Deputy Commissioner G Lakshmikanth Reddy on Thursday directed tourism department officials to submit a detailed project report (DPR) to convert the Old DC office into a museum.
He was speaking after reviewing the Swadesh Darshan 2.0 progress with tourism department officials. He said the 129-year-old iconic heritage structure on Krishnaraja Boulevard has remained vacant after the deputy commissioner’s office was shifted to the new complex at Siddharth Nagar last year.
As the state government including the tourism department plans to convert the old office into a museum, a fresh proposal must be submitted to the state government to convert the heritage building into a museum for showcasing the rare artefacts locked up in the treasury of the Department of Archaeology, Heritage and Museums.
A total of 369 rare artefacts including inscriptions on copper plates and coins of the past are among the items kept in the treasury. The DC said that the union government has sanctioned Rs 70 crore under Swadesh Darshan scheme for promotion of tourism in and around Mysuru city.
