'Over 2 lakh Ganesha idols immersed on Ganesha Chaturthi'

Over 2 lakh Ganesha Idols have been immersed either in Kalyanis or Mobile water tanks, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) revealed on Sunday. Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated on Saturday, September 7. It is nervously celebrated in Bengaluru, with idols of Ganesha being made and showcased, before it is immersed into a water body.

The South Zone has the most number of immersions, contributing almost half the total in the city with 84,149 idols, out of which only 3114 of them are immersed in mobile tanks. The west zone has 52,429 immersions out of which 25499 of them are mobile tank immersions.

East Zone with 40,791 immersions, Yelahanka with 14094 immersions, Rajarajeshwari Nagar with 12680, Mahadevapura with 7229 immersions, Bommanahalli with 3915 immersions, and Dasarahalli with 1719 immersions follow the course.
