
Spurious liquor operation busted, Rs 70 lakh worth liquor seized
In a significant crackdown on illegal activities, police raided a godown in Gangondahalli and Peenya, uncovering a major spurious liquor manufacturing operation. The operation, which spanned multiple locations in Bengaluru North taluk, led to the seizure of over Rs 70 lakh worth counterfeit liquor. Acting on a tip-off, the Madanayakanahalli police in the Nelamangala sub-division conducted the raid. They discovered a sophisticated setup where ingredients and colors were mixed to produce counterfeit liquor.
The illicit liquor was then bottled and labeled with expensive brand names to deceive consumers.The raid resulted in the arrest of four individuals, including Ravi Mariraja and Keshavamurthy. Police seized a total 4,860 litres of spurious liquor from 90 barrels at Chamundi Layout in Gangondahalli and another 5,616 litres from 104 barrels at a shop on 1 st Cross in HMT Layout, Doddabidarakal. Investigations revealed that the operation was part of a broader scheme to distribute counterfeit liquor across Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Authorities also discovered that an owner’s board had beenplaced at the godown to avoid suspicion. Rural Superintendent of Police CK Baba visited the site and reviewed the findings with Nelamangala Deputy Superintendent of Police Jagadish. A case has been registered at the Madanayakanahalli Police Station under various legal sections.
