BDA allots 216 alternative sites to those deprived of Arkavathy Layout sites

NT Correspondent Bengaluru: In relief for those who were deprived a plot in the much sought after Arkavathy Layout, Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) has allotted 216 plots as alternative sites in Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layout(NPKL) recently. Sites were allotted through the computerized allotment system at random by BDA Chairman and Shanthinagar MLA NA Haris.

Initially planned with around 8,800 sites in 2003- 2004 on 2750 acres of land in villages in East Bengaluru and Yelahanka, the layout was subject to denotification orders which shrunk it to 1089 acres and 3700 cancelled sites. After repeated visits to the courts and protests, the BDA succeeded in providing alternative sites in NPKL, which is off NICE road near Ullal. Sites of various dimensions, (30x40, 40x60, 50x80 and 20x30) have been allotted. A few still wait for their sites at Arkavathy Layout.
