Legacy of generosity: Razack family donates Rs 5cr for St Joseph’s Boys’ High School

NT Correspondent Bengaluru: The recent unveiling of the ‘Razack Family Block’ plaque at St Joseph’s Boys’ High School (SJBHS) in September 2024 celebrated the enduring bonds that unite this esteemed institution. The ceremony witnessed the presence of notable alumni, including the Managing Director of Prestige Estates Projects Irfan Razack (1968 Batch), his brothers Rezwan Razack (1970 Batch) and Noaman Razack (1974 Batch). They donated Rs 5 crore to support the school’s ongoing projects, which include the construction of a playground with a double basement and additional classrooms.

This contribution emphasises the Razack family’s commitment to upholding the values and traditions of SJBHS. Their donation will facilitate developments that not only enhance the school's infrastructure but also align with the requirements of the NEP. Moreover, these improvements aim to address persistent challenges such as limited parking space in Bengaluru’s Central Business District, reflecting a forward-thinking approach to education and community needs. Expressing his gratitude at the ceremony, Irfan Razack said, "It was my pleasure to be present for the plaque unveiling ceremony and give back to my alma mater, which has given me so much. Your blessing means a lot to me, and I am humbled by your recognition of my efforts." Rezwan Razack and their family members echoed this sentiment, reinforcing their dedication to the school’s future. Jayashree Prince Jacob, a teaching faculty member at SJBHS, emphasised the symbolic significance of the Razack family's contribution, stating, “It is not just a financial donation but a testament to the enduring connection between the school and its former students. This serves as an inspiration for future generations of Josephites to emulate and uphold the tradition of giving back.” As per a statement by the institute, “Once a Josephite, always a Josephite” is not merely a saying but a living testament to the ethos of St. Joseph’s Boys’ High School (SJBHS).

It embodies the deep bond between the school and its alumni." The statement further added that the love and loyalty of the Josephite community, often described as fierce and unyielding, are grounded in the valuebased education that the school has consistently provided. The spirit of the school motto, "Fide et Labore" (Faith and Toil), is reflected in the alumni’s commitment to giving back, ensuring the institution’s continued growth and success.
