
BDA recovers land worth Rs 430 cr
NT Correspondent Bengaluru: In what may be the largest recovery of land since its inception, the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) claimed it recovered six acres of land worth Rs. 430 crore on Saturday. The land in question is Survey Number 78 in Nagarbhavi Village in West Bengaluru “After battles lasting around 15 years with the High Court, a verdict to reclaim land was given,” said a BDA official. The BDA acquired 9 acres 11 guntas of land in this area in 1985. “Excluding the roads, the land comes upto 6 acres and 10 gunta,” the official added. The buildings demolished were mostly commercial establishments, mostly automobile garages and sheds.
“This is one of the biggest land recoveries by the BDA in the heart of the city,” the official added. In the vicinity of this area, another land parcel having illegal buildings was recovered on the same day. “Five sites worth Rs. 30 crore near Survey No. 129 were recovered,” the official stated. The demolition operation was carried out by the BDA Task Force, under the guidance of Police, and BDA officials.
