Technical glitch halts Metro services on purple line, passengers left stranded

NT Correspondent Bengaluru: Metro services on the Purple Line were disrupted for over half an hour on Sunday morning, leaving commuters stranded during peak hours. According to the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), a technical fault at Whitefield (Kadugodi) Metro Station caused a suspension of services between Whitefield and ITPL (Pattandura Agrahara) from 8:25 AM to 8:55 AM. During this period, short-loop train services were operated between Challaghatta and ITPL stations on the Purple Line to mitigate the inconvenience caused to passengers.

BMRCL confirmed that full services were restored at 8:55 AM, and metro traffic on the entire Purple Line returned to normal. Services on the Green Line were unaffected by this issue and continued to run according to the regular schedule. "We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers. Our team worked swiftly to resolve the technical glitch, and services were resumed as soon as possible," said the Chief Public Relations Officer of BMRCL in a press release. Many passengers faced difficulties as they were left waiting at various stations during the breakdown.

On the social media platform, passenger Pallavi Gopal mentioned, "I was on my way to Whitefield for an emergency and had no idea when the trains would start running again. It was frustrating to see no clear communication at the station. I had to get off four stops early and find another way to travel to my destination." Another commuter, Sathish R., added, "My family and I were stuck at Whitefield for nearly 20 minutes. We had to find another way to reach the nearest metro station that still had trains running.

Our family holiday was completely ruined because of this inconvenience." Meanwhile, BMRCL has also announced that commercial services on the extended Green Line will begin soon. An inspection by the Commissioner of Railway Safety is scheduled for October 3 and 4, covering the newly constructed stretch between Nagasanra nd Madavara.
