BMRCL invites tenders to wrap metro trains with ads
NT Correspondent Bengaluru: Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) late on Saturday invited tenders to wrap trains of THE Namma Metro’s Green and Purple line with advertisements This is expected to boost non-fare revenue of the BMRCL. The advertisement will be wrapped in such a way that it doesn’t affect the aesthetics of the train. It will also be ensured that the windows are not covered which will obstruct the view. Ever since its inception in 2011, the BMRCL remains the only Metro system in the country to not have advertisements wrapped on its trains.
The BMRCL has 57 six coach train sets, in which one is fully wrapped with the Union government's 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' program ad to mark India's 75 years of Independence. Now, all the trains will be wrapped with advertisements. The tenders for this will be floated in two schedules. A non-refundable tender document can be obtained for Rs 10,000 which has to be paid to BMRCL.
A bid security amount of Rs. 18.7 lakh (Schedule 1) for the Purple line and Rs. 15.7 lakh for the Green Line (Schedule 2) have been announced. According to reports the BMRCL has faced losses after the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) banned advertising on metro pillars and viaducts spaces. A semi-branding policy for select corporates has also been mooted reportedly by BMRCL.
