KengeriNGO's Durga pandal depicts pain women endure
NT Correspondent Bengaluru: This year across the country, Durga puja pandals and themes have shifted from the usual flamboyance and grandeur, depicting more topical and relevant themes in Indian society. The themes range from climate change, to the Gaza war to lack of safety and atrocities against women. Ektara Socio Cultural Organisation, a Kengeri, Doddbelle based NGO is presenting something truly different during this Durga Puja and Dasara. It has shunned the grandeur and extravaganza of the previous year when it had a Somnath Temple replica as the pandal.
“Through our Durga idol and every aspect of our pandal, we are depicting the pain, struggles, and the unspeakable atrocities faced by women in society. This year’s theme is an emotional journey that will resonate deeply, reminding us all of the battles women endure, often in silence”, informed Ankur Sarkar from Ektara. Ektara is inviting visitors to witness this portrayal not just as a spectator but with empathy and reflection. This year’s Puja is not only a celebration of the mother goddess but also a call for awareness, compassion, and change, Ektara believes. It may be added that the NGO has been honored with the prestigious Rupor Mukut Somman 2024(held in Kolkata) for their beautifully crafted Durga Puja themed idol.
