Jarkiholi sex CD case: SIT seeks HC nod to submit final report

NT Correspondent

Bengaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Thursday appealed to the High Court to grant permission to submit its final report before the trial court in the alleged sex CD case involving former BJP minister Ramesh Jarkiholi.

The court was hearing a petition filed by Geetha Misra questioning the validity of the constitution of SIT, and two other petitions filed by the victim.

Senior advocate Ashoka Harnahalli, appearing for SIT, submitted that the investigating agency has completed its investigation into t h e case and has finalised its report. However, an interim order passed by the High Court has restrained SIT from submitting the final report before the trial court. He further submitted that the SIT has filed the petition seeking to vacate the stay order, and prayed the court to allow the petition, and allow the investigation team to submit the final report.

Meanwhile, the junior colleague of senior advocate Indira Jaisingh, who is arguing on behalf of the young woman, informed the court that Jaisingh has tested positive for Covid-19 and is under treatment. The junior colleague pleaded with the court to adjourn the matter as the senior advocate herself will argue the case.

However, senior advocate appearing for Jarkiholi, C.V. Nagesh, raised objections to the plea to adjourn the matter submitting that Indira Jaisingh has already taken time due to illness on several occasions which has led to delays in the trial, and prayed the court not to grant any more time.

Finally, the High Court adjourned the matter to January 13.
