Two masked robbers arrested for armed robbery

NT Correspondent Bengaluru: The Kodigehalli police have arrested a gang from Uttar Pradesh and seized 1 kg of gold ornaments worth Rs 70 lakh from the accused. On April 24, the accused barged into the home of Dr. Umashankar, a resident of Sahakarnagar, and looted gold ornaments worth Rs 40 lakh. A complaint was filed regarding the incident. The police had previously arrested three individuals, including a woman. Zafar and Imran, who were apprehended by the Chhattisgarh Police in a theft case, were taken into custody on a body warrant. During interrogation, they were found to be involved in criminal activities throughout the city, police stated. The Uttar Pradesh gang, which was active in committing thefts across the country, including Bengaluru, specifically targeted locked homes. They wore masks and stole substantial amounts of cash and valuables, threatening home owners with pistols when confronted.

According to police, the robbers, implicated in two cases in Kodigehalli, are also linked to three cases under the jurisdiction of Electronic City Police Station. The robbers would travel to Goa with the looted money to gamble at casinos. They indulged in leisure activities until their funds ran out, prompting them to commit further crimes. Cases have been registered against the two accused in several states, including Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh, police confirmed.
