State to recruit 700 Group posts in Vet department to open new 2 colleges in Puttur, Athani: Minister K Venkatesh

NT Correspondent Mysuru: A notification will be issued shortly, as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who is also the state finance minister, has given the necessary financial approval to recruit for these posts. He made this announcement after launching the sixth round of the vaccination drive against foot and mouth disease (FMD) for the livestock population of the state. The event also included the inauguration of a technical seminar organized for veterinarians by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Sciences, in collaboration with the State Veterinarians Association, held at the KSOU auditorium on its campus in the city. Siddaramaiah noted that his department recently recruited 400 veterinary doctors on a contractual basis to address the staffing shortage.

Additionally, a notification has been issued to fill another 400 permanent veterinary doctor positions through examinations conducted by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC). This process is currently underway. He mentioned that each year, 400 veterinary doctors graduate from the state's colleges. While several private individuals have expressed interest in establishing veterinary colleges at their own expense, the state government has rejected such proposals. Instead, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed his department to open new veterinary colleges in various locations across the state. His department plans to start new colleges in Kokatnur in the Athani taluk of Belgaum district and in Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district from this year.
